This 6-week class meets on Wednesdays [11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/25 (Monday), 12/4, 12/11] from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is taught by Dr. Jack Wann.
Great actors from Judy Dench and Helen Mirren to Meryl Streep; Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart to Benedict Cumberbatch have diverse things to say about how they do their work. But they speak with one voice when they say, “STUDY! Take CLASSES!” Together they call their lifetimes of work in ongoing classes with teachers like the legendary John Barton the single most important artistic activity which has nurtured their development. It obviously works!
Playwright/Actor Sam Shepard once said that the acting classroom/rehearsal hall is a ‘safe place to do unsafe things.’ The SCCT ACADEMY supports this view. The opportunity to ‘explore without penalty’ is the watchword of the work we do at our home on 8th and Main. To see actors hone their skills, uncovering more and more of what is already there and exploring and discovering new techniques, methods and sources of growth are what we are all about.
